Medical Treatment

Step 2 of 8 · Our Process

Your health comes first, and it is also the foundation of your claim. The value of a personal injury case depends largely on the injuries you suffered and the treatment you needed, so complete and consistent medical care matters for your recovery and your case.

Getting the care you need

We connect clients with qualified doctors, chiropractors, physical therapists, imaging centers and specialists in the Glendale and Los Angeles area. If you do not have health insurance or cannot afford your deductible, many providers will treat you on a medical lien. That means you pay nothing up front, and the provider is paid from your settlement when the case ends.

How your treatment is paid

  • Health insurance, including Medi-Cal or Medicare. These programs may ask to be repaid from your settlement, and we negotiate those reimbursements.
  • Medical payments (Med-Pay) coverage on your own auto policy, which can pay bills regardless of who was at fault.
  • Medical liens, paid from the settlement at the end of the case.

Under California law, the amount you can recover for past medical bills is generally based on what was actually paid or owed, not the full amount first billed (Howell v. Hamilton Meats, 2011). We account for this when valuing your claim and negotiating your bills.

Why consistent treatment matters

Insurance companies look closely at medical records. Long gaps between appointments or stopping treatment early are often used to argue that you were not really hurt. Following your doctors’ advice protects both your health and your claim.

Once your injuries have been diagnosed and treated, or your doctors say you have reached maximum medical improvement, we can place an accurate value on your claim, including future care you may need, and begin negotiating with the insurance company.

What you can do

  • Tell every provider that your injuries came from the accident, and describe all of your symptoms.
  • Go to all appointments and follow your treatment plan.
  • Keep a simple journal of your pain, limitations and missed activities.
  • Save receipts for prescriptions, mileage to appointments and medical equipment.
